Oxford University Press Southern Africa (OUP SA), a renowned leader in educational publishing, is seeking an experienced and innovative professional to join their team as a Publisher in the Dictionaries division. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled lexicographer and publishing expert to contribute to the development of high-quality print and digital dictionary products that support learning across Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a publishing strategy that aligns with OUP SA’s strategic objectives and market needs.
- Plan and conduct market research to ensure that proposed products meet curriculum requirements, market demands, and user needs.
- Commission and publish dictionary products to increase market share and contribute to overall profitability.
- Manage intellectual property, including digital licensing, data processing, and ensuring the accuracy of source files.
- Oversee the technical development and quality control of dictionary content using XML-based software tools.
- Monitor project delivery, track progress, manage resources, and ensure timely and budget-compliant publication.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Digital, and foster productive relationships with authors, NGOs, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage project and overhead budgets, ensuring accurate forecasts and cost control.
- Identify training needs within the dictionaries team and facilitate specialized training on lexicography, technical systems, and software tools.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Lexicography or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in lexicography, publishing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in developing and publishing dictionary products, both print and digital.
- Experience with XML-based editorial tools, corpus building, and data analysis.
- Strong project management and budget management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Qlikview, and dictionary development software is advantageous.
- Valid Code B driver’s license.
